Doing your research
Thanks to Paul Michael over at WiseBread.com for mentioning Missing-Auctions.com in his post entitled Access Ebay’s Hidden Auctions.
What really caught my eye was the first comment on the post which mentioned that sometimes misspelled auction items can actually sell for more than the correctly spelled versions !
Now why would this be ?
Well, usually it happens when there are several people who feel that they have found a bargain and set unrealistically high maximum bids. Obviously the way to avoid this is to set a realistic maximum bid but what’s the best way to do this ?
Missing-Auctions.com allows you to search for correctly spelled items as well as auctions that have finished (just tick the ‘Completed auctions only’ checkbox and select ‘Right spellings only’ on the search form).
If there are any sold items that match the one that you’re bidding on check out the condition to ensure that you’re looking at something in the same condition as the one you’re bidding on. If you’re happy then that’s the absolute maximum amount that you should bid.
Simply, huh ?
